TAMALANEH, who’s birth name is Anjelle Hoxie, is a 28 year old female R&B artist whose music is a cross between the Old School and New School R&B genre with soul and unique hooks. She is said to remind many of Mary J Blige, Brandy and India Irie.

Tamalaneh started off singing Anita Baker songs at the age of 3 years old, but since have grown to love and have respect for many other phenomenal artists in various genres of music. Her experiences includes Vocal Training at the age of 10, Glee Club and High School Choir participation, and Live Performances in local Venues.

Tamalaneh has since become a favorite to her local area when it comes down to music professionals needing a good female vocalist to do vocal work in the recording studio. She is also called upon on many occasions to come and sit in with other live performers to render her lead and background vocals before a live audience.

Frank: You know Tamalaneh, your music is very uplifting. Tell me, What’s your strive?

Tamalaneh: It’s very simple Frank, I strive to make music that everyone can listen to and enjoy. Music that comes from the heart.

Frank: Where do you currently reside at?

Tamalaneh: I was born, raised, and currently reside in Lansing, Michigan located about 80 miles west-northwest of Detroit.

Frank: Every music artist has a reason for entering the music industry. When and how did you get started?

Tamalaneh: I got started when I was 3 years old, my step dad had a Do Whop group. I was always walking around and trying to sing with them. I was the only girl at that time who wanted to sing so bad that I followed the men around who were singing just so I could possibly have my chance.

Frank: Sometimes prepping yourself for the music business takes time and a lot of effort. What steps have you taken to achieve your goals?

Tamalaneh: My preparation started with vocal lessons at the age of ten. I later became a soloist in a church called the Living Word Church here in Lansing, Michigan, I sung in the choir at Washington Woods Middle in Holt, Michigan during my 7th grade tenure, and I also went to glee club in high school, and sung in their choir. I am currently in the process of training with a Choreographer and preparing to take a live band out for live performances.

Frank: Considering that you started at a very young age and aside from being different and trying to stand out from the crowd. What do you do or what have you done to separate your musical talent from other RnB artist?

Tamalaneh: I have a unique personality and a unique approach to the love for music. I am not in a hurry to sound current. I have a love for both Old school and New school music. That’s why you will hear the slogan “Old School – Nu School = Great Music! I want to keep the Old School Music alive, but I also will be exploring some current style music on my next album. People will find that I have a very humorous personality, so don’t be surprised if I have them laughing about something I said from time to time.

Frank: Well, Tamalaneh, knowing that “Old School – Nu School” for great music could very well be a unique approach for success. Is there anything you are currently working on as of today?

Tamalaneh: Of course Frank. I have been working on my Extended Album Release. I just finished my debut “Special Released” Album, and it is now currently available on Cdbaby and ITunes, and will be available in many other retail outlets soon. As of this writing, I am also working on finishing my first Christmas love song, and preparing to do live performances.

Frank: That is great Tamalaneh. You are by far a very talented RnB artist. In your own words, Do you feel that your art form is a way to express yourself, or a way of life? How would you classify your art form?

Tamalaneh: Sure. It’s a way to express myself and a way of life. A sounding board kind of. I like to sing about real things, real happiness, real hurt, real love etc…

Frank: After singing for sometime now. You must have had some great gigs?

Tamalaneh: Most of my gigs have been spent in the recording studio. I’ve done a lot of background vocal work for Daz Dillinger’s mother “Dr. Allean Varnado Lang”, who is also Snoop Dog’s aunt. I’ve also done a lot of vocal work for Bell Time Records on various music projects.

Frank: Have you been contracted by any major labels. Are you currently shopping around?

Tamalaneh: No I am not contracted to a label, although, Bell Time Records is my shopping label, and the owner Michael Bell is my music producer and manager.

Frank: And what a great guy he is. He and I have been corresponding for sometime now and he sounds like he has been doing a great job with you. In your opinion, what do you think of the RnB scene as we see it today?

Tamalaneh: Well Frank, I think what you are providing with your “What’s Your Strive” website is “A Voice of the Unknown”. It is so hard for independent Artist to get their music in a really good position whereby the benefits are finally yielding the desired results. I have been very fortunate to have my music promoted in various places like your website and I already started receiving CD sales, YES!

Frank: Tamalaneh, What suggestions would you have for other striving artist like yourself?

Tamalaneh: I would tell them to keep striving and push forward to be heard. Stay focused and have faith in yourself. If your talent is strong, you will succeed.

Frank: Any other upcoming projects, events, or anything you’d like to mention?

Tamalaneh: I am currently working on my Extended Album Release version of the Special Album Release. It will consist of having 5 additional songs that are not on the current Special Release Album.
